El propósito de este libro es propiciar un análisis reflexivo y crítico de la Tutoría en la Educación Superior, ya que sus significados y prácticas se han modificado a lo largo del tiempo según los cambios en la misión y funciones de las instituciones universitarias. En función de ello, como resultado de investigaciones teóricas y empíricas sustentadas en un enfoque sociocultural, se presentan y analizan las diferentes configuraciones que adquiere la tutoría en la educación superior como respuesta a los siguientes interrogantes: el sentido de la existencia del tutor: ¿Por qué y para qué el tutor en la universidad?; los problemas a los que busca responder y sus propósitos: ¿Cuáles son los motivos de la inserción de tutores en las instituciones?; las características del rol y sus funciones: ¿Cuál es su rol? ¿Cuáles son sus modelos de intervención?; los sujetos que pueden ejercer el rol: ¿Quiénes pueden ser tutores?; y el tipo de formación requerida para el desempeño de nuevas funciones: ¿Qué formación se requiere para el ejercicio del rol tutorial?
En este marco, a partir de los desarrollos teóricos de Vigotsky y autores postvigotskianos, se proponen categorías de análisis que permiten dar cuenta de las particulares configuraciones que adquiere el rol en el contexto socio-histórico de la universidad actual.
Estos aportes teóricos y metodológicos que pueden ser de alto interés y relevancia para las instituciones educativas cuyos propósitos sean interrogar, comprender y explicar las formas particulares de concebir y de llevar a cabo las prácticas de tutoría y para reflexionar críticamente sobre los modelos que favorecen mejores condiciones para el aprendizaje en la universidad.

Mirian Inés Capelari. Psicopedagoga. Licenciada en Educación. Magíster en Psicología Cognitiva y Aprendizaje (FLACSO y Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) y Doctora en Educación (UNTREF). Es docente universitaria e investigadora categorizada. Su principal línea de investigación es "la tutoría en la Educación Superior". Cuenta con varias publicaciones en libros, revistas y congresos en temas de su especialidad. Actualmente se desempeña como Subsecretaria de Posgrado y Vínculo con la investigación en la Facultad Regional Buenos Aires de la Universidad Tecnológica Nacional. Participa en investigaciones como asesora externa en la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Es asesora y colaboradora de universidades públicas de Argentina en temas vinculados a políticas y programas de tutoría.
