About the Book

WILL ROGERS 1879-1935 The consideration of Will Rogers as a candidate for President of the United States in 1928 was more of a symbolic gesture acknowledging his spirit, insight and honesty. Will had the ability to accurately interpret the political and economic events of the day; events which in many ways relate to our own upcoming elections. His humor with an occasional sarcastic remark thrown in, kept folk's attention giving them a reason to stay informed. Will Rogers had a remarkable career that went from Oklahoma "cowpuncher" to international star. He embodied the heart and soul of this nation at a time when a fresh voice, clear eyes and spoken truth were needed. This simple plain-spoken man who was part Cherokee Indian and a former cowboy became the voice of a nation during the '20s and '30s. His writings, quotes and speaking engagements were directed toward the political arena, as well as other events of the time. Strange as it seems, most of those pearls of wisdom are just as relevant today as they were in Will's day. It is my intent to give you folks a point of reference that may apply to some political happening today as well as a useable quote you may toss out to liven up a conversation or speech. Will liked people and never forgot his roots. He was able to connect with folks in a way most politicians, heads of states and those in high places could not. In many cases, politicians were more interested in their own AGENDA instead of the people who helped get them elected. Some things haven't changed and it seems as if certain principles are embedded in our political system for all times. Through his message and style of delivery, he conveyed to the entire nation what was really going on in the heart of the country. As a result of ability to connect with people, his compassion for values and principles, Rogers was accepted, respected, trusted and honored throughout the world from the common man to royalty. The intent of this booklet is to present in an interview format a quick read and reference. Will's timeless philosophy, as well as insights into political life from yesteryear presented as they apply to today's events. These golden nuggets and guiding thoughts will be something you can relate to, learn from as well as sharing with others, possibly opening up certain areas for cussing or discussing. The topics covered are introduced by a question then answered with one of Candidate Rogers' insightful Thoughts, Quotes & Anecdotes in understandable terms and concepts that make sense, common sense. Enjoy the timeless sayings and expressions of Will Rogers presented in this booklet. My goal is to put a smile on your face, possibly some insight into the ever changing and in many ways, never changing world of Elections & Politics.
About the Author: Charley's travels have taken him from the eastern farm hills of Kansas, to military service, college administration as well as forays into the real estate and transportation industries. Other stops along the way included appearances in local TV commercials, movies plus recording radio advertisements for the Better Horses Network. Those various journeys provided a wealth of experience, a bit of wisdom and many lessons to draw on for his books as well as his current role as a professional entertainer and part-time cowboy. Charley's a lot like Will Rogers in his story telling striving to take a common sense approach with a dash of humor tossed in when talking and writing about life's journeys. His stories range from the inspirational, humorous and motivational with some personal commentary added to the mix. Charley confesses to being a, "Professional Writer and Life Long Dreamer." Recently he's added a few Country & Western songs along with some Cowboy Poetry all of which unexpectedly created a new brand when folks began referring to him as, "Cowboy Charley." His enriching, entertaining programs are certain to bring a smile to those in attendance. To schedule Charley for an entertaining presentation to your organization on Will Rogers for President, e-mail him at CharleyGreen@CharleyGreen.com www.CharleyGreen.com I am just an old country boy in a big town trying to get along. I have been eating pretty regular, and the reason I have been is because I have stayed an old country boy. -Will Rogers
