About the Book

How to raise successful Black boys as a single parent. Prognosis for Black boys not very good.Getting your child into Grammar schools, You could be a single parent by choice or situation forced upon you. Society frowns on single parents and I've even been told being a single parent is psychotic! They say two heads are better than one but that is not always true. You could be in a toxic relationship, a victim of domestic violence or through circumstances out of your control end up a single parent. Whilst UK government policies are against you, I'll teach you how to work the System to you and your child's advantage. A lot of the problems Black children face are blamed on single parents (absent dad syndrome) but is this really the correct analysis? Can Black children from single parents households not "make it" in life? My theory is that if girls are princesses then Black boys are African princes. This book also explores the links between deprivation poverty and the rise in knife crime specifically considering the effects of the Tories war on the welfare state by targeting single parents.
Black boys are especially at risk of underachieving in the UK. They are often written off by teachers and are over represented in the criminal justice system and the mental health system. They experience more relationship break ups and are more likely to come from "broken homes". Whilst the odds are stacked against your Black child, they do not have to underachieve because you are a single parent but you must take some steps to at least give them a fighting chance like their White counterparts.
