Que l'oeuvre de Robert Challe soit un creuset dans lequel se sont fondus les aspects les plus originaux d'une epoque incertaine qui voit la fin du regne de Louis le Grand et l'aube des Lumieres, personne n'en doute parmi ceux qui ont pu apprecier ses textes decapants. Ce recueil devrait permettre a d'autres lecteurs de decouvrir cet univers fascinant. Le melange detonant de rire, de goguenardise et d'emotion profonde devrait toucher nos contemporains indifferents aux codes d'ecriture surannes mais sensibles a la spontaneite et a la sincerite d'un ecrivain qui n'appreciait rien tant que la "bonne foi".
