About the Book

Mostly unfamiliar to Americans, there is another colony sent by England to settle in America, before the colonist and John Smith landed on Plymouth Rock. The colony settled in Roanoke North Carolina and in this colony the first American child was born from European parents. The book Roanoke Village is based on actual events. The settlers landed in what is now Virginia, they were to meet with a hundred English experts who set up temporary camp there, upon arriving however all of the men were missing. The local native tribe to the north admits that they killed all of the Englishmen and demand that the colony leaves America. The Roanoke settlement does not know what to do, they do not have enough food to last the trip back to Europe. They plant crops create a fort, and become friends with the natives to the south. The Roanoke colonists gather supplies to send a ship to England, with 10 people and barely enough food to keep them alive during the trip. As far as history goes, that is the last we ever hear of the more than 150 remaining colonist. A recent hurricane has uncovered a chest buried on the island, inside were diaries from villagers including one by Isabel a young intelligent Nobel. Isabel a young beautiful noble woman steps off her ship onto the shores of America. She is part of a colony of over 150, sent by the Queen of England to settle in America, decades before Jamestown. Life in the new world is good, Virginia Dare the first English baby in America is born and the colony trades with the Native American Croatians to the south. Isabel however learns that not all the natives are happy to see the colony. The Powhatan tribe to the north has eliminated an English outpost a year before, and they intend to strike again. There is only enough food to send one ship with 10 villagers back to England, a six month round trip. The Powhaten natives assess the Roanoke colony fort, it is breached but the farmers manage to battle the natives out of the fort. Isabel a natural leader attempts to take leadership but is imprisoned. The nobles flee on their boat towards England, leaving a power vacuum, Isabel assumes that role. She enlists the support of the farmer Arthur, a genius French general that was humiliated out of France due to his homosexuality. The Roanoke colony declares independence from England and creates a new country called America. America's first trial will be another native attack led by Loki, a clever native who aims to capture and utilize the Roanoke settlers to build cement homes and firearms for his tribe. This is the story based on real events of the first Colony in America.
