Alex used to believe that bad things didn't happen on sunny days...but now he knows better. On an otherwise normal October day, his neighborhood becomes a place of horror. Missing parents, a chaotic evacuation and a school in flames are only the beginning of a nightmarish world overrun by bloodthirsty creatures--creatures who were once neighbours, friends, and family.
Thrown together by chance with no adults coming to their rescue, Alex, Nicole, David and Kaitlyn must rely on themselves and each other to survive. As they struggle to defend themselves, create a safe haven, and learn to work together, they discover that there's more than one kind of enemy...and that sometimes the worst ones come from within...

About the Author: James FW Thompson got hooked on writing when he had a story published in the second grade. He's been hooked on zombies ever since he saw "Army of Darkness" when he was the same age as David in Rise of the Mudmen. Since then he has written many stories (a few zombie ones), award-winning plays, and the beginnings of about a dozen unfinished novels. It has always been his dream to finish one of those novels and have it published. James is a teacher and theatre-person born and raised in Cape Breton, where he lives with his wife, Erin, his son, Seamus, and two cats, Zombie and Kean. He likes board games, movies, and a good cup of tea.
