The Rise of the Atlanteans series is centered on families in a present-day setting fighting to survive and come to grips with their secret genealogy. The series introduces historical and mythological ties to reality through other literature, including Ignatius L. Donnelly's Atlantis; the Antediluvian World, Plato's Critias and Timaeus, Bullfinch's Mythology, and many theological texts from diverse cultures. It also includes a heavy fantasy element, a la Dungeons & Dragons and Star Wars, that bridges the divide to the fantastic lost continent of Atlantis.
But Atlantis is not a lost, sunken continent. Through the use of ancient elemental magics, the Atlanteans moved the continent from the Atlantic Ocean to the South Pole. Following the relocation, they constructed a massive shield of arcane energy to safeguard Atlantis and its inhabitants. The Atlantean people have strived to guide the rest of humanity subtly while also being on the lookout for their arch-enemies, devilish and demonic fiends, in order to endure and preserve the knowledge inside.
Book 1; Hidden Destiny: This book deals with one child of Atlas, the High King of Atlantis. Brett, who is unaware of his heritage, gets abducted at an early age, but his father helps him escape. However, he has no memory of his past or his savior. With his soulmate wife and two children by his side many years later, he learns that they have a strange power that is amplified by being within proximity to each other. Slowly but surely, the memories of his lost time return.
A powerful fiend-like figure named Sigurd also pursues Brett, intent on stealing the power he has for his own. Through this chase, Sigurd discovers the long-lost Atlantis as well. But things may not be what they seem with Sigurd, and the revelation of it may affect the entire world.
This first book, and the many others planned for after it, each has their own soundtrack, based on Classical music and scores from many films. It accompanies the reader as they read.
