About the Book

O, the xyxics* of it all! So komm, so komm. And so it comes, and so it goes. The picture of Neuschwanstein Castle (see cover photo) on the poster up on the wall in the men's room at Bishan MRT Station, Singapore, was always there and every time I peed there it always struck me with its inspiring spell, with the wordings: "D.R.E.A.M.S", "It Is Good To Build Castles In The Sky But Start Working On The Foundation - Now!" And so by the by came 'On The Feast Of Stephen, or, Mad Prince Ludwig, or, oder, Verrückt' Ludwig', and on it went. Leading to this present compilation of my lyrical versions to familiar tunes, song parodies, snippets, ditties, extemporizings and chants from over the, especially last three, years to form here a rag-a-tag song cycle of sorts, including 14 new pieces. Throughout, Neuschwanstein Castle and its creator, Mad King Ludwig, were much the onspurring light. This Neuschwanstein Castle edition is distinguished in the peculiar photo of Neuschwanstein Castle on the cover (which see) from the satisfactorily completed second edition, which in turn is differentiated from the original first edition (now unpublished) by only the inclusion of the brief stanza about the "vollgrown man" (p. 18). Save the short foreword and the amendments to the preface and copyright page, the text is identical to that of the second edition. Save the amendments to the copyright page and preface, this slim format edition is identical in content with the full format Neuschwanstein Castle, third, umpteenth edition, only with "no spacing", that is, without double spacing, that sort of thing. *xyxics [SYKES-iks]: the quantum mechanics of the here and now.
