About the Book

Cowboy Poetry from the Eastern Sierra. The author has an interesting mix of real cowboy and reel cowboy stories and poems. He continues to perform nationally and spends as much time as he can horseback or sliding down the many ski slopes in the Lake Tahoe area. If you have ever day dreamed of being a cowboy, this book will take you on some very interesting trails.
About the Author: Larry Maurice has spent the last thirty five years as a Cowboy, horse wrangler, packer and ski instructor in the Eastern Sierra and the high deserts of Nevada. You're likely to find him leading a string of mules into the back country, on a horse drive in the Owens Valley of California, or working with Longhorn cattle in Virginia City, Nevada. Over the last few years, Larry has had to juggle his need to be horseback with his busy entertainment schedule. A sought after entertainer, not only for his Cowboy Poetry that speaks from the heart of the day to day Cowboy, but also for his ability to breath life into the history of the American West. He can also be found acting as an announcer or Master of Ceremonies for Rodeos, Parades, Mounted Shooting Competitions, Film Festivals or singing the National Anthem for the opening of a major sports event. He is an exceptional after dinner speaker and also spends a great deal of time in schools around the country, talking to children about the role the Cowboy has played and is continuing to play in the development of the west. Larry has hosted television specials for the FOX network, and his one man show, "Cowboy; The Spirit, The Lore, The Legacy", continues to keep him traveling around the country. Through poetry, song and stories, Larry is able to transport his audiences back in time, allowing them to experience the cattle drives, characters and critters of the old west. Larry received the Academy of Western Artists coveted "Will Rogers Cowboy Award" for Cowboy Poet of the Year in 2000. His CD's have received great reviews and have been nominated "Album of the Year" by the Academy of Western Artists. In September of 2004, Larry received the prestigious "American Cowboy Culture Award" presented by the "Lubbock Cowboy Symposium" for lifetime achievement in "Cowboy Poetry."
