About the Book

Timber Town's fate hangs in the balance: the bridge is destroyed; everything is on fire; and the dam is about to burst. "All this happened because I believed that I could save my father by facing his sworn enemy alone," Moh weeps as she watches from the shadows. Though this young, headstrong bird wants to be brave, she's not sure if her featherbrained idea will even work. If Moh is wrong, her brother, Twig, will pay with his life--an unforgivable debt she couldn't live with. But time is running out. And only these two hybrids can do what needs to be done. The fate of an entire town hangs from their wingtips... Rhigle Rage in Timber Town's story offers inspiration and encouragement to those who feel like their lives are caught in an irrecoverable tailspin. Among the many lessons shared in these pages, the reader will learn this--that in order to recognize the enduring light of truth, one must first be willing to take a step into the darkness of uncertainty and the unknown. According to Nate D'Newt, "This Tale of Whoa is a must-read for all those who are ready for a change in their lives and need a Tall Tale to help them break through their shells." This book also explores the following themes: - Our Own Worst Enemy - tune out self-doubt and trust your heart. - Coming of Age - find your voice by being willing to make your own choices. - Bullying - the dangers of physical and psychological abuse. - Loss of Hope - coping with depression and death. - Truth - finding the signal through the noise. Engineering Themes: - Strength of Materials - wood structure design. - Importance of Trade Schools - the world needs doers and thinkers. - Failure Modes - catastrophic failure of wood structures. - Design and Construction - the necessity of following the drawing.
About the Author: Nathan G Phillips is a child at heart, a dreamer who refuses to wake up, and a nerd who adores the amazing world of science and engineering. Nate was a late bloomer; he didn't catch the feaver fever until he was in college. But that's okay because he redeemed himself by going on to earn both a bachelor's and master's degree in mechanical engineering. He then spent more than a decade of his days working in the aerospace field. As an enginerd, he performed structural analyses for the propellant structure in NASA's reusable solid rocket boosters-yep, he's a rocket scientist, a humble one, no doubt. Nate also worked to keep supersonic jets in the air and safe for the brave pilots who fly them. This self-proclaimed author fills most of his quality time thinking up deep thoughts, creating art, and hanging out with his hybrids-aka, his family. He adores his wife and four kids and claims they're the coolest critters on earth. He credits them for inspiring him to write this novel and his first Tale of Whoa, a book entitled Feaver Fever in Spillage Village. For more information, check out his website at www.TaTaEngr. com. This website contains supplemental information for this book as well as news on the next book he is currently writing and illustrating.
