Piotr SNIEDZIEWSKI, Ennui, depression et desespoir: Michelet sur Durer, chauve souris et soleil noir Cela peut paraitre surprenant, mais dans la France du XIXe siecle, la gravure Melencolia I d'Albrecht Durer a ete analysee avec la plus grande finesse, non par des poetes ou des critiques d'art, mais par l'historien Jules Michelet. Pour Michelet, la gravure de Durer etait distincte; elle a transgresse les limites rigides d'une oeuvre d'art et annonce - par la metaphore du soleil noir - des experiences de tristesse et de melancolie faisant partie de l'histoire allemande. Alors que Michelet, dans son interpretation du travail de Durer, suit inevitablement les traces d'autres critiques du XIXe siecle, il formule egalement des questions et des idees originales. Les deux textes de Michelet sur la Melencolia I de Durer demontrent que l'historien francais etait vraiment original dans ses tentatives d'interpretation. Le premier texte est un fragment du recit dans lequel Michelet decrit son voyage en Allemagne en 1842; le deuxieme texte se trouve dans le huitieme volume de son oeuvre monumentale Histoire de France. Ping DU, Perte et deformation: points de vue sur les femmes dans le voyage interculturel de Xiyou Ji - Une etude de cas de la traduction anglaise de Waley Monkey Xiyou Ji (Voyage vers l'ouest) relate la veritable histoire du voyage de Hsuantsang (Tripitaka) en Inde a la recherche des Saintes Ecritures, et l'histoire elle-meme ne peut se passer de la communication et de la diffusion interculturelles. Xiyou Ji cree une serie de personnages feminins uniques: des femmes mortelles, des enchanteresses et des deesses, qui jouent un role indispensable dans le developpement de l'histoire. Cependant, dans la traduction anglaise de Waley, Monkey, qui est la plus largement repandue et acceptee en Occident, ces images feminines ne peuvent echapper au destin in absentia dans le voyage interlinguistique et interculturel, et les images et les points de vue culturels traditionnels chinois sur les femmes qu'elles vehiculent ou impliquent sont perdus ou deformes. Philippe MET, De La Poupee sanglante aux Mains d'Orlac: la greffe et l'automate au prisme de l'adaptation La presente etude se penche sur l'intersection de l'art et de la science, ainsi que sur l'ambiguite genree, se cristallisant en la figure de la creature artificielle, a partir de deux exemples classiques francais, diversement adaptes a l'ecran: La Poupee sanglante/La Machine a assassiner (1923/24) de Gaston Leroux, roman devenu mini-serie televisee en 1976 grace a Marcel Cravenne; Les Mains d'Orlac (1920) de Maurice Renard, porte au cinema notamment par Robert Wiene (Orlacs Hande, 1924) et Karl Freund (Mad Love, 1935). Katherine ASHLEY, Une double existence: le cas etrange des deux Jekyll francais Cet article trace l'histoire des deux premieres traductions francaises du roman Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) de Robert Louis Stevenson et fait valoir les raisons historico-litteraires qui font que cette histoire de doubles incontestablement ancree dans une tradition litteraire ecossaise fut en mesure de remplir des roles tres distincts dans l'histoire litteraire francaise. L'article demontre que la traduction de Jules-Paul Tardivel, publiee au Quebec en 1887-1888, decoule d'un debat sur la moralite religieuse a la fin du dix-neuvieme siecle, tandis que la traduction de Mme Berthe Lowe, publiee par Plon en 1890, participe a un debat sur la modernite artistique a un moment ou le champ litteraire francais etait en pleine crise esthetique. Anthi-Danae SPATHONI, Du texte a l'image - et retour. Cy Twombly et Homere Dans la longue tradition d'ut pictura poesis, les artistes favorisent le dialogue de la poesie avec la peinture et mettent en relation le texte avec l'image. Les peintres s'inspirent des textes litteraires qui leur servent de source pour leurs oeuvres picturales. Une relation interessante se developpe: la transposition d'une oeuvre (A), le texte, a une autre oeuvre (B), la peinture. Cet article montrera que ce transfert (A->B) decrit une relation dialectique qui fonctionne dans les deux sens (A B), c'est-a-dire que l'oeuvre (B) revient a son oeuvre de reference (A) en la completant et l'enrichissant. L'analyse de la serie Fifty Days at Iliam (1978) de Cy Twombly et son rapport a l'Iliade d'Homere nous permettront d'etudier le passage du texte a l'image et ainsi de montrer les nombreuses affinites des peintures avec le poeme epique. Dans une deuxieme etape, nous developperons ces relations dialectiques afin de revenir au texte source et tenter de mieux comprendre les correspondances complexes creees entre deux oeuvres d'art. Si les recherches etudiant la representation de l'Afrique dans les litteratures europeennes, ou inversement de l'Europe dans les litteratures africaines, sont nombreuses, celles abordant un point de vue transversal, d'ancienne colonie a ancienne colonie, sont plus rares. C'est pourquoi il nous a paru necessaire d'aborder la question de la presence des Caraibes dans la litterature afropeenne contemporaine, sur les plans thematique et esthetique. Cet article traite ainsi de l'influence de l'imaginaire caribeen sur trois auteurs et autrices afro-descendants d'expression francaise: Leonora Miano, Alain Mabanckou et Edem Awumey.
