About the Book

Crystal Ann Johnson was determined to become a doctor, and she didn't let getting pregnant at fifteen years old hinder that dream. Her parents Henry and Charlotte Johnson were strict Christians who did not tolerate unchristian like behavior in their home, especially her father. When Crystal revealed to her parents she was pregnant, her father immediately ordered her out of the house knowing she had nowhere else to go. Since there was no negotiating with her father, and since he never inquired about the pregnancy, she packed her things and left. Crystal never revealed to her parents she was raped by a boy at her school named Charles Bradley. To her surprise shel had identical twin girls which she named Elissa Crystal and Jalissa Ann Johnson. After the birth of the twins, her father decided to let her come back home, under the condition she could only bring one child with her.Henry's brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Bernice Johnson, tried to have children of their own with no success. Crystal's father made the decision to give one of the twins to them, without Crystal's consent. Crystal was not comfortable with that arrangement because for one, her uncle was just as bad as her father. He claimed to be a Christian, but was mean as a snake, as the adage goes. Unfortunately, Crystal had no choice but to go along with the plan if she wanted a place to live. Therefore, before leaving the hospital, baby Elissa Crystal went to live with Crystal's aunt and uncle. Crystal wanted to eventually get her daughter back but with each passing year, it never seemed like the right time. She went on to become a doctor, with memories of her other daughter always plaguing her thoughts.Elissa grew up thinking the couple raising her were total strangers who just happened to take her in. Not knowing they were truly her great aunt and uncle. She knew she was adopted, but she was never told who her real mother was. Her childhood was miserable and downright unsafe at times. The people she called parents treated her cruelly. Elissa suffered through her childhood and teenage years, with the goal of making a successful life for herself and leaving her parents behind for good, but she also included revenge in those plans. Now at thirty years old Elissa is a successful doctor and she resolved now was the time to get her revenge. Through resources, she locates her grandparents. She also finds out she has a twin sister, but is still unable to locate her biological mother. Elissa adds her grandparents to her revenge list and goes after them first. As far as her twin sister, who had the privilege of being raised and loved by their mother, she had a special plan in mind for her. She decides to abduct her, with hopes of flushing out her estranged mother, which is the one she really wants to get revenge on anyway. Her plan works, but not quite as she intended. She successfully kidnaps her twin sister, but she soon learns her mother was someone she befriended a few years prior at a Medical Conference, and had since become a good friend of hers. This takes all the fight out of Elissa and she concludes vengeance is no longer her heart's desire.
