About the Book

This is a story of a Janhavi, a rape-victim. This story reflects the true face of our society. A girl, who is a victim of rape, is in need of sympathy and love; but she does not receive sympathy and love from our society which a normal girl gets. This story depicts how a rape victim is exploited everywhere in our society: home, courts of law, media. The protagonist of the story is Jahnavi. Sushant is her friend who is in love with her. Meanwhile Janhavi gets engaged to someone else and Sushant cannot express his love. Once Rachit and Janhavi go to Lonavala for a picnic (Rachit is her fiancée). At Lonavala, Jahnavi comes to see an entirely different side of Rachit's personality. She realizes that Rachit is a womanizer and has relations with a number of girls. When Janhavi comes to know this, she is shocked. While returning from Lonavala at night, they have an argument and Rachit stops the car somewhere on the road. Just then four boys from a car approach Rachit with a request to spare some diesel for their car. While Rachit is helping them, the four notice Janhavi and drag her out of the car. She begs Rachit not to leave her; but a coward that he is Rachit makes off to save his life, leaving Janhavi amidst the four boys. First in the car and then at a lonely spot they ravish her. Taking her to a deserted spot they tear off her clothes. When Janhavi tries to shield herself with her long hair, they cut her hair off. They hurt her by slashing and piercing her body. Together they exploit her twelve times. Even then they are not satisfied and push a wine bottle inside her and the broken glass hurts her insides. They throw her out of the car and make away. After some time Sushant happens to be going that way. He takes Janhavi to a hospital. She had suffered excessive bleeding and her uterus is damaged by the glass splinters beyond repairs and doctors have no option but to remove it. Fifteen days later Janhavi regains consciousness. She is afraid of giving statement out of fear of the society but ultimately does so after everyone advises her to do so. During the trial, the defence lawyer asks her several filthy questions and so as to have all the four boys who had raped her acquitted, proves her to be a characterless girl of loose character. Several false evidences are adduced against Jahnavi and prove her false. The daughter of the lawyer defending Jahnavi is kidnapped. He becomes helpless and is compelled to withdraw from the case. All witnesses examined on behalf of Jahnavi are proved liars and untrustworthy. The second lawyer who tries to defend Jahnavi receives death threats. Jahnavi realizes that she will never get justice from the courts: not only that, but she and all those who are associated with her will only face more trouble. She withdraws her case. She resolves that since it was she who has been wronged against, it will be only she who will decide the punishments. She develops nerves of steel and along with Sushant draws up a plan to kill those for molesters. Accordingly all four are called to the same place where they had molested Jahnavi. Jahnavi kill them one after the other mercilessly, ensuring very painful death for all of them. However all feel that they have committed suicides. Nobody doubts Jahnavi nor does she leave behind any evidence. Jahnavi gives a message to the society girls should not remain dependant on anybody but fight single-handedly for giving justice to themselves.
