Documento del año 2012 en eltema Literatura - General, Nota: 10, Universitat de València, Idioma: Español, Resumen: Los intentos por definir tanto el estructuralismo como el post-estructuralismo son variados y de múltiple talante, tanto por parte de críticos e historiadores, como de los propios autores que formaron parte del movimiento. Por ejemplo, J. Ellis (1978:16) opina que lo mejor que se puede hacer para definir el estructuralismo es referirlo a una serie de trabajos teoréticos y críticos surgidos en Francia, inicialmente como una revuelta en contra de aquellas formas demasiado conservadoras en los estudios de teoría literaria, y de historia. "Una definición más analítica sería dudosa", declara Ellis . Sin dejar de reconocer que hay mucha verdad en sus palabras, este tipo de afirmación, evidentemente, se queda más que corto. Siguiendo esta lógica, el post-estructuralismo sería igualmente una simple y mera reacción contra la corriente precedente. Ante este tipo de delimitación tético-categórica, se hace comprensible el tono jocoso-melodramático de François Dosse (1991:19) cuando declara que el estructuralismo, para triunfar, debía, como en toda tragedia, matar. Y la cabeza visible que debía ser cortada, era la de Jean-Paul Sartre, figura tutelar de los intelectuales de después de la guerra.. Cuando esta sintaxis se considere desde su perspectiva material, alcanzará su máxima efectividad. No es fácil ocuparnos del tema manejando tales generalidades, pero resulta necesario si no queremos perdernos en la madeja histórica, tanto más cuanto nuestro propósito no es hacer una historia crítica de estos movimientos. Nuestro verdadero interés se centra en ofrecer una lectura del papel de la retórica en el movimiento post-estructuralista, para lo cual no podemos pasar por alto las circunstancias del estructuralismo. En consecuencia, ésto nos conduce a dos implicaciones fundamentales: la primera, paso imprescindible, supone entender lo que ha significado la retór
