In The Reliving, author June Matthews explores the link between paranormal events and a type of PTSD known as Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. A condition that replays past trauma over and over again, and what some doctors refer to as a Reliving.
In 2010, career changes led her and her husband to pack up their life in California and move into their dream house in a rural town in Eastern Washington. Alone in their new home while he traveled for work, unexplained events began to happen. Items would move on their own, appliances turned on and off, lights flickered, doors opened and closed, unexplained crashing, and talking.
As the activity coincided with a terrifying resurfaced memory from her childhood, she threw herself into researching and documenting the activity. She recorded chilling voices and events. She complied those first two terrifying years into The Reliving DVD as a companion for this book.
Matthews includes testimony from a variety of people who experienced paranormal activity while inside the house. She uses these different perspectives to provide a thorough view of the phenomena.
She made the connection between her own past full of abuse and violence and her extraordinary paranormal house.

About the Author:
June Matthews was born into an abusive and violent home. She was moved from parent to parent until the age of 12. A runaway for years, she experienced horrific violence and abuse, followed by a lifetime of dysfunction and sadness until she entered an Alcohol and Drug treatment center. The treatment center changed her life.
She remained clean and sober while still struggling with memories from her past.
Eventually, career changes led Matthews and her husband to move to a new state in a secluded and rural area in eastern Washington. When her husband traveled for work, Matthews became the only witness to strange circumstances in her home. A lifelong skeptic, June never would have imagined she'd become a paranormal researcher and author. What happened in the house forever changed her views on spirituality, the paranormal and what it means to heal. Initially frightening, the phenomena eventually helped Matthews confront her past trauma.
Today she remains a private person, markedly restricted physically from injuries but no longer chained to her past.
June and her husband Jim still live in the house, where she is hard at work on her next book, a sequel to THE RELIVING. She continues her paranormal research and working on another book to share her techniques on Electronic Voice Phenomena. She counsels and assists other women who suffer PTSD from the trauma of sexual abuse. Matthews is an enthusiastic advocate of twelve-step programs.
