About the Book

From the Garden of Eden right down to the 21st century, man was created for relationship-relationship with God first and then with others. And therein lies the rub as those relationships touch and shape us throughout our lives into the people we ultimately become. In his insightful book The Relational Rub, Pastor Chuck Andrews traces the rubbing of those relationships upon our souls, beginning with the moment of salvation when we enter into relationship with Christ and experience his divine touch, to those relationships with family, friends and coworkers that can be so unpredictable. Whether those relational rubs are joyful or painful, the author skillfully shows how they are all destined to grow us up and conform us to the image of Christ. -Priscilla Richardson, retired teacher; M.A., English, OKC, OK
About the Author: Charles "Chuck" Andrews was born in 1957 and raised in the small southeast New Mexico town of Jal. Walter Andrews, his father, was a volunteer Music Director and Deacon for over 25 years until his death in 1982 at the age of 52. Lois Andrews, his mom, has been a Sunday School teacher and an active leader in churches for as long as Chuck can remember. Chuck was raised in a loving home with three siblings; Alan, Vicki, and Rusty. Their family is still a very close knit family. Chuck married his High School sweetheart, Estela Rubio, in 1978 and their life has been a love affair since they began dating in 1975. He and Estela have three children; Chrissy, Cathy, and Stephen. Their daughters are identical twins and have given them two grandchildren each. Victoria, Michaela, Isabella, and Jacob, their four grandchildren, love to spend time with Nana and Grandpa. Chuck was saved at a young age and had a life altering encounter with Christ when he was 19. Although Chuck had dyslexia, God gave him a hunger for the Bible and Chuck began his life long journey biblical studies. At the age of 20 Chuck surrendered his life and was licensed to the Gospel Ministry. He is a 1984 graduate of Criswell Bible College in Dallas, TX holding a BA with a Major in Bible. Chuck has served six churches in three states as either a pastor of associate pastor. He has successfully started two churches, one of which he led to merge with another church of like ministry. Chuck has done mission work in Brazil and Mexico. Chuck and Estela have lasting relationships with people from each church they served. At the age of 45, in November of 2002, Chuck survived a massive heart attack. He continued to pastor and co-pastor his church until October 2006, when he was medically forced to retire with medical disability. From May 2007 until May 2010 he was on the National Heart Transplant list. In 2010 his health improved just enough to be removed from the transplant list yet not enough to come out of retirement. Chuck has enjoyed the outdoors since he was a small child. Before his health problems he and his family enjoyed camping on a regular basis. He grew up hunting but has had to give it up since his heart attack. He has always enjoyed fishing and, since his retirement, has acquired a boat and spends lots of time relaxing on local lakes. Chuck and Estela continue to trust a sovereign God to give and direct their lives. Their hope is in Christ alone.
