Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2013 im Fachbereich Orientalistik / Sinologie - Islamwissenschaft, Note: 1,3, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main (Institut für Studien der Kultur und Religion des Islam), Veranstaltung: Religionswissenschaft / Islamische Religion, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die islamische Welt sieht sich in ihrer Auseinandersetzung mit der westlichen Moderne in einem Spannungsverhältnis zwischen Anziehung und Abwehr. Ǧamāl ad-Dīn al-Afġānī (1838-1897/1254-1314) meinte, dass die islamische Welt nicht aufgrund des Islams selbst unterlegen sei, sondern weil die muslimischen Gelehrten aus dem Islam eine dem Denken feindlich gegenüberstehende Religion gemacht hätten. Er verwehrte sich gegen jeden Anspruch westlicher kultureller Überlegenheit. Der Westen habe in der Moderne zu sehr den rationalen Aspekt des menschlichen Seins hervorgehoben und dabei den spirituellen Aspekt des Menschen vernachlässigt. Doch in Wirklichkeit müssten beide in Einklang sein, wie es im Islam angelegt sei. Durch eine Hinwendung zu den Wurzeln würde eine spezifische islamische Moderne entstehen, die den Muslimen einen Weg zu Fortschritt und Wohlstand zeigt. Diese Grundgedanken sind seitdem das Fundament für die Formel der "Re-Islamisierung". Von dieser Idee gespeist, trugen viele das Gedankengut al-Afġānīs in die Welt. Besonders Muḥammad ʿAbduh und Rasīd Riḍā entwickelten und verbreiteten seine Ideen weiter, die bis in die Gegenwart weiterwirken. Sie beide gelten als Begründer des islamischen Modernismus. Auf diesen Gedanken beruht einerseits die Nahḍa-Bewegung, der eine liberale Agenda zugeschrieben wird. Auf der anderen Seite ist die Salafiyya-Bewegung, aus der auch der Islamismus hervorgegangen ist. Gerade diese tief greifende Wirkung dieser Denker hat mein Interesse an diesem Thema geweckt.
