En las páginas que siguen tratamos de señalar las diversas formas en que los seres humanos dan vueltas sobre su propio fin, sin aludir directamente a él, y al mismo tiempo sin dejar de pensarlo como peligro inminente. Para dar forma a este libro hemos recorrido la historia del Perú, desde la época incaica hasta nuestros días, usando como base de estudio las poblaciones rurales, y con ellas la cultura cristianizada de las sociedades de origen indígena.En ese recorrido hemos tropezado con formas de percepción de la muerte relacionadas con el cristianismo que llegó en el siglo XVI, y las formas de interpretación que nacieron de las distintas sociedades que fueron parte del Tahuantinsuyu. Este libro sigue su evolución hasta el siglo XXI, donde ya puede notarse la influencia de religiones cristianas de origen protestante, que coexisten con percepciones arcaicas derivadas de la primera evangelización y aquellas que, siendo de origen indígena, han mantenido segmentos de las religiones precolombinas.
About the Author: Moisés Lemlij Director del Seminario Interdisciplinario de Estudios Andinos (SIDEA), es Doctor en Medicina, Fellow del Royal College of Psychiatrists y psicoanalista didacta. Entre los cargos más importantes que ha desempeñado, ha sido Secretario Asociado, Vicepresidente y Tesorero de la Asociación Psicoanalítica Internacional y Presidente de la Sociedad Peruana de Psicoanálisis. También ha sido Profesor Visitante del Elliot School of International Affairs de la George Washington University y del Guy's Medical School de la Universidad de Londres, así como Consultor Académico y Profesor de la Maestría en Estudios Teóricos en Psicoanálisis de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Ha recibido el Premio Internacional de Psicoanálisis Mary S. Sigourney y la Distinción por Méritos Excepcionales al Servicio de la Salud y la Orden Médica del Colegio Médico del Perú. Asimismo, ha sido distinguido por la Sociedad Peruana de Psicoanálisis, el Northern Ireland Institute of Human Relations y la Asociación Peruana de Psicoterapia Psicoanalítica de Niños y Adolescentes, instituciones de las que es Miembro de Honorario. Ha sido editor de la revista Psicoanálisis Internacional de la Asociación Psicoanalítica Internacional. Ha editado más de treinta libros. Luis Millones Antropólogo y Doctor en Historia por la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, Lima, 1965. Obtuvo la Beca Nacional de Cultura, 1967. Ha recibido las siguientes distinciones: Profesor Emérito de Universidad de San Cristóbal de Huamanga, Ayacucho, 1998. Robert Kennedy Visiting Professor of Latin American Studies, Harvard University, 2002. Doctor Honoris Causa, Universidad Nacional de Trujillo, 2004.
