About the Author: Karen H. Monteith enjoyed reading from an early age. In fact, as a child she expected to learn to read on her first day of school--and was distraught when she didn't master it instantly. When she became ill later that year, Karen was confined to bed for many months. It was during this time that books became her constant companions, with Grimm's Fairy Tales being among her favorites. Although she enjoyed reading, it took her a while to find her way to writing. After high school she worked full time, and it wasn't until age twenty-six that she became serious about college. Taking night classes, eventually Mrs. Monteith received an English degree with a concentration in journalism from Western Carolina University.
In 2009, she began writing children's stories as a hobby. In 2014, a little raccoon emerged a lively and lovable character. The little raccoon has remained a solid fixture in her stories ever since.
She and her husband make their home in western North Carolina.
