Divorce is both traumatic and unnerving. You may feel as if the end of your marriage was a personal failing. It's not uncommon to believe you'll never love again, or even that God will punish you for ending your marriage.
None of this is true. Fifty percent of marriages end in divorce-you're not alone in your pain and uncertainty. And while God certainly holds marriage sacred, he's also forgiving and loving.
Recovering from a divorce takes time, and often requires guidance. Author, Christian, and divorce survivor, Mary Jo Thorson has seventeen years of experience helping people heal from the stress, pain, anger, and guilt caused by divorce.
Recovering from Divorce explores the different stages of divorce, which are not so different from the stages of grief. Shock, anger, guilt, and denial are painful but vital stages in the healing process, eventually yielding to forgiveness and new relationships.
Thorson supports each stage of recovery with inspirational biblical passages, reminding readers forgiveness is the ultimate goal-forgiveness for ourselves, for our ex-spouses, and forgiveness from God.
About the Author: Mary Jo Thorson discovered she enjoyed writing when she worked as a software engineer developing technical documents. While working she attended evening college classes, completing her degree with a thesis on divorce recovery.
Called by her church to lead the divorce recovery team, Thorson developed seminars and a video on divorce recovery. Her own experience with divorce fuels her passion for helping others through the recovery process.
Thorson lives in the Chicago suburbs with her husband, three children, and two Labradors. She enjoys reading, writing, having fun with her kids, and regular dates with her husband. Currently she's planning her second book, a must-read for couples preparing for marriage.
