When Jessica Dyer went on vacation with her father, she never imagined it would be the last time she would see him alive. Or that it would be her final day as a human.
The malicious Jeremiah Hind has been experimenting on humans, splicing and melding their DNA with supernatural creatures such as werewolves, shapeshifters, and dragons. Centuries ago, during a time of war, the process for creating a mythological super-soldier was developed; however, it was outlawed, and the procedure was lost. Now, Jeremiah is attempting to reverse-engineer operation through sadistic and illegal experiementation.
After successfully sabotaging their bus and kidnapping Jessica, Jeremiah plans to make her his next unwitting test subject.
In his underground lab, Jeremiah begins torturing Jessica with excruciating trials, doing his best to break her along the way. But, unfortunately, he successfully thwarts her every escape attempt, subsequently pushing her mental, emotional, and psychological limits as punishment.
Meanwhile, the Paranormal Investigation Agency has caught wind of Jeremiah's atrocities and is prepared to end them. The Agency stands for unity between the supernatural, paranormal, and human communities, and their primary objective is to maintain order and enforce the law within those communities. They will not stand for such heinous activities.
Although Jeremiah has been taken into custody, it is too late for Jessica. She's become the first of her kind. She wields power not seen in centuries, and she is not sure where she fits in. With her father murdered and her mother succumbing to cancer, there is no place left for her to return to; even if she could, she doesn't feel like she belongs in that life anymore.
However, the Agency is prepared to take her in and train her as one of the operatives.
After months of hard work and dedication, she's ready. Jessica takes on her first mission involving the mysterious disappearances and supernatural deaths of humans surrounding a vampire coven. But, alas, she soon discovers something much more insidious.
With Jeremiah's experiments ceased, Jessica believed she would be the first - and last - of her kind. But, she's discovered a group of children with the same abilities and genetic mutations.
The deeper Jessica and the Agency dig, they realize that the culprits behind these new genetically augmented children are affiliated with the Agency. It's time to weed out the criminal lurking amongst them and take back their organization.
