About the Book

Throughout the content of her book, RatioSophia, Elena Petresteanu puts us face to face with a method that guides the rational - to super-rational, and seeks the truth of a world tested and proved by means of philosophy, theology and science. This reflexive task, original through the inter-disciplinary contents it puts forward, reclaims the two traditional discourses of relational analysis of the universe and the individual as entities, and respectively as beings, in an unconventional formula, which RatioSophia embraces in the form of an authentic and equally autonomous thought system. However, attempting the synergy of social, mystical, physical, metaphysical, theological, anthropological and mathematical, into a coherent unitary model, capable of activating genealogically and archeologically all the demands of rigor and understanding of the universe and the individual at their core being, is not only a methodological and conceptual effort, but also an act of bringing coherence to traditions ...The intellectual mission that Elena Petresteanu takes on in the pages of the book RatioSophia is at the service of this attempt. Through RatioSophia, the author ascertains the theory of complementarity in relation to a thinking that assists hermeneutically the moments of crisis and progress of a theory dedicated to cosmosis, by which "faith becomes intelligible, and science becomes sensible". (Petresteanu 2016, 7) In the research of complementarity, the author sets forth the nuclear pattern for a dynamic proto-rapport, capable of meeting the metaphysical objectives both conceptually and methodologically, solving the issue of the interdisciplinary synergy in an innovative and original manner in 406 pages of analysis and critical thinking over the meaning we can correlatively give to the predestined nature of the world and the individual. By means of Aristotle, Thomas, Descartes, Spinoza, and Hegel, Elena Petresteanu´s volume opens up a metaphysical incursion gathered around an objective that proves the connections between the scientific revolutions and the metaphysical discourse itself. In order for the "scientific revolution" initiated by Ratio Sophia to reach its end, the complementarity theory, assisting in the paradigm shift on the understanding of the world being and our own being, it requires receptivity on the part of the audience. It´s the last element out of a series list that prepare Ratio Sophia for the confrontation with the Other, with the critical mass: problems, solutions, concepts, methods and specific values have been confirmed, with every page, for coherence and completion of this puzzle which I preferred to unravel as a continuation of Malraux´s dilemmas, with the power to amend, in a destined manner, the moments when we all used to believe that mysticism was a sum of possible but improbable fictions, that satisfy the void of an intangible reality; that nothing from mysticism must be brought up to the light of science, theology and philosophy that would rather proclaim it as tradition instead of a phenomenal history of thought sequences; that reuniting these three disciplines into one metaphysical puzzle is an unreasonable compromise. This book is a path towards "outwitting" these three errors that all of us have committed out of excessive academic rigor or scientific scepticism. For "only the original thought hides inside that richness that can never be exhausted, but only better understood each time, that is to say differently than words can express openly; But in this case, this better understanding is not the interpreter´s merit, but the gift offered by the actual object of interpretation." (Martin Heidegger, The origin of the work of art). Nonetheless, the author could not have made a better choice for the object of her system.
