About the Book

This book is a collection of poems posted in cyberspace over eight months by Quenntis Ashby, Margaret Callow, Dawn Evans, William Holt, Zan McDowell, Mary Linda Miller and Ashen Venema (domiciled in Taiwan, England, South Africa, the USA and Barbados), all part of a unique poetic conversation on a writer's website. The thread on which the poems were posted received over 26,000 views during its brief life, influencing the poets to publish this in order to make their poetry accessible to a wider audience. They may very well represent the root of a new imagistic movement within the global community - linked through technology where meaningful connections could be made, like-minded souls and friends-to-be, thousands of miles apart who had never met and probably would never meet, would move each other to create a new kind of sentimentalism that crosses oceans and mountains and barriers of sex, race, nationality, culture, education and class to create a modern representation of a humane society which could only be made possible through utilization of this amazing resource we call the worldwide web.
About the Author: Since joining authonomy.com Zan's interest in poetry was dramatically renewed on meeting 6 special friends - Quenntis Ashby, Margaret Callow, Dawn Evans, William Holt, Mary Linda Miller and Ashen Venema. This fortuitous meeting resulted in Rambling Poets at Café Cyber. Zan's fictional works and poetry explore the human condition, themes of personal freedom, love, self-knowledge and existentialist elements in general. Her professional field is law. Educated at the UWI and the University of Cambridge. Worked as a University academic in the Caribbean earning the reputation of a children's rights activist. Author of Elements of Child Law in the Commonwealth Caribbean. Worked with various organisations including the OECS, UNICEF and NCH Action for Children. For the last decade has been the annual moderator for Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations in Law. Huge interest in the visual and literary arts and paints in oils. Honorary General Secretary of the Barbados Arts Council. Her love of literature led to the self-publication of The Somnambulist, A Brief History of Wui, Survival in Silhouette, A Peep into the Conditions of Isolation of Mr. Nobody (publication information on file with the Barbados Library Services), and Sesuj of Trenchtown: Healing in the Jamaican Ghetto, available on Amazon.com and createspace.com. Completed other novels: Goodness in a Demi World; Stains of Carl; My Brothers' Keeper and a collection of short stories Twist of Fate and Other Short Stories. Contributions in Rainbow Lights Ablaze. Ascribes her prolific writing to her love for books and appreciation of the great potential of the written word to entertain, inspire and educate. Next on the poetry agenda for Zan is a second Rambling Cyber Poets' anthology Poeticising Chat with her fellow cyberpoets Quenntis Ashby, Margaret Callow, Dawn Evans, William Holt, Mary Linda Miller and others.
