About the Book

High-Octane children often sputter and stall when they are not driven and operated the way their Creator designed them. They require specialized, focused attention and discipline in their lives to perform the way God designed them. This design can be seen at an early age through observation and interactive relationships. As your child develops into a teenager, assessments can be administered to sharpen your understanding of how God designed them. Benefits of raising High-Octane children. -Their attitude about life is one of purpose. -Motivation is built in by God himself. -They have focus. -They have personal significance. -They have more self-confidence. -Selecting the right major in college. -The future is one of meaning and fulfillment. All of us are born with built-in traits which well up from whom we are meant to be (Eph 2:10.) When these attributes, behaviors, temperaments and personality traits are given external guidance and stimulation, they provide High-Octane fuel in which our children find purpose, passion and drive which motivate them to excel and perform as the Creator originally designed. It is not a simple thing to discover these gifts in our children. However, it is very important! If we are not armed with an understanding of how God made our children, then it is very easy to set them up for failure. But when parents are armed with an understanding of how God designed their children, then they can provide them with High-Octane direction for their lives. It is interesting to note that the lack of personal significance is cited as one of the leading causes of depression, suicide, and personal regret. Statistics claim as many as 70% of all Americans are in the wrong career, and as many as 50% of Americans, including those who attend church, end up in the wrong marriage. As startling as these statistics are, they point out a tremendous need in our society for direction and input, and that direction needs to start in the early stages of a child's development. Our responsibility as parents is to understand to the best of our ability how God has made our children and then, armed with our child's "profile," train them up in "the way he should go." God made each of us as unique individuals not only with different physical characteristics but also with special talents, personality, and behavioral traits. We all understand that this is the case because it is easily observed. What is not so obvious is the following: (1 just what exactly are these gifts, (2 how they work, and (3 what advantages they bring to each of one of us. It is the life of purpose-and more importantly-God's purpose that we want for our children and ourselves. How can we live the abundant life if we do not live life the way we were designed? Knowing how God has made us helps us to excel and live a life of meaning, one that glorifies our God, and produces joyful and highly motivated High-Octane people.
About the Author: Michael J. Adams is uniquely qualified to author Raising High-Octane Kids because the book is written for laymen by a layman. He brings a wealth of real-world expertise to the project. Michael has been married for 43 years, he and his wife Theresa have raised four very successful, High-Octane kids of their own. Their oldest is Michael Jr., a Computer Scientist, race car builder and driver, James, a world class athlete and businessman, Jason, a commercial pilot, design engineer and musician, and Rachel, an office manager currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration. Michael is also responsible for the start up of 15 different businesses over the last 35 years. These businesses included an auto repair shop, barcode hardware sales, software development, e-commerce retail, a Christian bookstore, consulting practice and most recently founded Living My Purpose the developer of the Compass Potential Coaching System which provides online life coaching for adults and teens. Michael has served as a conference and seminar leader and speaker commercially and in ministry. He believes that the purpose of his ministry, Living My Purpose, is to assist people in understanding how God originally designed them so they might live like King David who " . . . served the purpose of God in his own generation" (Acts 13:36). This understanding can be enhanced through various assessments which provide a "profile" on how God has designed a person. Michael is active in both his community and church. He has served as a youth pastor and an Elder at several churches including Mountain View Community Church, where he served as Chairman of the Elder Board, taught adult Sunday school and has lead many weekly community life groups. Michael lives in Ramona, California where he and his wife Theresa own and operate the Kountry Kitchen restaurant, a historical icon in the community. He encourages his readers to visit his website at www.LivingMyPurpose.com and purchase the Compass Online Potential Coaching System.
