Il s'inspire de ce qui se pratique dans d'autres pays, anglosaxons et scandinaves en particulier. Cette pédagogie se développe et se structure dans le but de dépoussiérer le système d'éducation à la française de plus en plus décrié. Ce renouveau, qui promet des jours meilleurs, veut réconcilier d'une part les élèves avec l'étude et d'autre part réconcilier les enseignants avec les élèves eux-mêmes. Pour cela est privilégiée une façon bien différente de voir les choses. Il est demandé aux enseignants et aux parents d'abandonner la critique à outrance telle qu'elle est pratiquée dans l'enseignement comme dans l'éducation depuis toujours dans notre pays. Il leur est recommandé de la remplacer par un jugement intégrant un certain nombre de facteurs tels que la bonne volonté, la justesse du raisonnement, les efforts effectués et les progrès réalisés. En agissant ainsi la motivation de l'élève est sans cesse entretenue. Il ne se sent plus catalogué mais au contraire comprend que son statut est évolutif et dépend de ses efforts pour progresser. Les paroles d'encouragement constituent le moteur de la pédagogie. Le jugement définitif et destructeur Nul ! si souvent utilisé disparaît comme la panoplie des appréciations négatives. Une appréciation ne doit jamais contenir de jugement trop absolu, définitif et destructeur. L'élève, mis en confiance, se sent enfin reconnu et valorisé. Il est donc normal qu'encouragé, il se pique au jeu d'apprendre.
