"Purpurflügel" von Moritz Pirol ist der erste Band zur Trilogie "Sterngucker oder Das Idyll eines Obdachlosen" und ein Beitrag zu den Schillerjahren 2005 und 2009. Denn Schiller wurde von der Familie seiner Frau als "Sterngucker" oder Traumtänzer belächelt. Tatsächlich aber mögen solche "Fantasten" wie er uns einen sicheren Weg in die postmaterialistische Gesellschaft zeigen. Eine leicht kriminalistische Handlung, die auch über Jerusalem und Thailand führt, entfaltet die bizarren Rätsel um Schillers Sterben und Bestattung. Sie stellt dabei einen inneren Bezug zur Ermordung des Orpheus her, dessen abgeschlagener Kopf ewig weitersang. Sein Geliebter Kalais entfernte sich mit Purpurflügeln von einer zerstörerischen Menschheit himmelwärts und diente so dem Sterngucker Schiller als Muster. Abraham Blaugold, ein jüdisch-schweizerischer Gelehrter, versucht, den gefährdeten Planeten des 21. Jahrhunderts aus dem Geiste des orphisch purpurgeflügelten Schiller vor dem drohenden Untergang zu bewahren. Also ein ungewohntes, ein sehr anderes Schillerbuch mit virtuellen Dimensionen.

Der Zehnjährige schenkt seiner Mutter einen eigenen Gedichtband; der Dreizehnjährige schreibt einen Schwank für sein Schultheater, der Fünfzehnjährige Theater- und Konzertkritiken für westdeutsche Tageszeitungen, der Siebzehnjährige die Texte für ein politisches Schülerkabarett, der 22jährige seine germanistische Dissertation sowie ein Theaterstück, das in Berlin verlegt, auch uraufgeführt und für den Gerhart-Hauptmann-Preis nominiert wird. Die Entscheidung, nicht länger für das Fernsehen zu schreiben, eröffnet zugleich den Weg zu Erzählender Prosa als neuem Schwerpunkt. So entstehen "Hahnenschreie", "Liebesbrief an fremden König" und "Reflexe" (Tagebücher über Reisen, Männer, Literatur, Medien und Immaterielles). In allen wird das Collagieren heterogener Elemente erprobt. Mit "Abrahams Schoß oder Brief-Köpfe" sind zur Zeit utopische Paraphrasen über Geld und Geist in Arbeit.
