About the Book

Josephine and Napoleon are the Puppy Twins, two white toy poodles. They have many adventures and invite you to join them as they learn all kinds of things. In this adventure, they explore the colors in their backyard. The Puppy Twins is a simple book that young children can learn to read. As they follow along, they will also learn the colors and have fun matching the colors to the object of that color. Mrs. Judith Rex Dudugjian was in education for 34 years. She received a Master of Science in Reading degree from Old Dominion University in 1987. She served as a reading specialist at the building level as well as a teacher specialist at the district level in the Norfolk Public Schools. Mrs. Dudugjian, Auntie Rex, hopes that The Puppy Twins adventures will be children's favorites now and in the years to come.
About the Author: Judy Rex Dudugjian began her career in 1973 in Norfolk, Virginia, as a classroom teacher in an urban elementary school. She spent 14 years as a classroom teacher of fourth and fifth grade students. It was during this time that Mrs. Dudugjian decided that the best gift she could give her students was a love of reading and the tools to read successfully. To accomplish this goal, she went back to school and received a Master of Science in Reading degree from Old Dominion University in 1987. She served as a remedial reading teacher for grades K-5 for the next five years and a Communication Skills Specialist from 1992 to 1995. In this position, she served as the sole reading specialist at the building level, working with the teachers and the students to instill a love of reading and improve reading skills. In 1997, Mrs. Dudugjian became a reading specialist for Norfolk Public Schools. This position allowed her to act as a resource for all teachers and reading teachers in the entire district. To fulfill the duties of this position, she attended numerous conferences and workshops on the teaching of reading. Armed with this knowledge, she conducted many training sessions district wide. One of the most exciting perks of the job was getting the opportunity to meet and talk with many of the most famous authors of children's books throughout the country. During this time, her own desire to write books for children developed. She knew that beginning readers learned best when they were presented with books that contain rhyme, repetition, and rhythm. Mrs. Dudugjian retired in 2007 as the assistant principal of an urban school which housed students in grades K-8. At that time of her retirement, she dreamed of being able to pursue a new career as an author of children's books. Her love of children, her love of books, and her vast experiences in working with children has resulted in books that children will want to read over and over again.
