A veces, se nos vuelve omnisciente, otras equisciente, para terminar siendo deficiente.Sin embargo, esta aparente arbitrariedad con el uso del narrador no se vuelve en detrimento de la historia, al contrario le da vuelos inusitados. El tránsito entre una y otra persona narrativa muchas veces ocurre de manera imperceptible.Los personajes están perfectamente caracterizados. Son arquetipos de cualquier comunidad pueblerina. Personajes en decadencia que buscan la expiación propia en el declive colectivo.Con Pueblo Chiquito, la autora se introduce en los vericuetos más explícitos de la mente humana y desde allí visualiza el mundo exterior, que no excede el perímetro de las relaciones interpersonales. Los personajes se construyen a través de sus interioridades, el curso de sus pensamientos y las reacciones ante determinados sucesos o el enfrentamiento entre ellos.En esta historia no encontramos ninguna referencia espacio_temporal, que nos permita ubicarla en un lugar o tiempo específicos. El manejo del tiempo es uno de los logros en esta historia, sobre todo por su conexión con la exploración del subconsciente.González Suárez con su historia hace guiños a grandes clásicos latinoamericanos como Rulfo y su Pedro Páramo, García Márquez con Crónica de una muerte anunciada, Roa Bastos con Yo, el Supremo y nuestro Carpentier con su Viaje a la semilla.Pero inquieta como es, en su escritura subrepticiamente maneja y recrea mitos de la cultura universal como el de Sísifo, el de Orfeo y Eurídice.Pueblo Chiquito es una historia completa.
