Die Grundlagen fur mein Denken und Arbeiten wurden an der Universitat Siegen gelegt, an der ich das Ende eines wahrlich goldenen Zeitalters miterleben durfte. Allen voran mochte ich hier Helmut Kreuzer (1927-2004) nennen, dessen Weitblick, Gespur fur Themen und wissenschaftliche Liberalitat mich stets bee- druckt haben. Fur ihn zu arbeiten war eine Ehre. Zudem danke ich Peter Seibert und Helmut Heinze fur ihre gute Ausbildung und Burkhard Schaeder fur einen einzigen Satz im ersten Semester, der mein ganzes Studium getragen hat. Das D- ken von Siegfried J. Schmidt hat in den spaten Siegener Jahren viel von meinen wissenschaftlichen Interessen gepragt. Es war keine leichte Herausforderung, das dort Gehorte mit dem Wissen der Theologen (Jurgen Werbick, Ingo Broer, Elmar Kos), Philosophen (v. a. Bernhard Irrgang und Jochem Hennigfeld) und der - triebswirte (u. a. Hermann Freter) in Einklang zu bringen. Helmut Kreuzer, Michael Krzeminski und Klaus Kreimeier sei Dank, dass sie mir fruh gestatteten, mein w- senschaftliches Crossover im Medienstudiengang der Universitat Siegen auch in der Lehre zu erproben. So erlaubten sie mir, mein erstes Seminar im WS 1997/98 uber Schweigen als Kommunikationsform zu halten. In Hannover forderten mich spater Ulli Grottrup und mein langjahriger Mentor dieser Jahre, Bernd Schmidt, bei dem ich nach seinem Wechsel an die Universitat Gottingen bislang am haufigsten lehren durfte."
