Nicht nur im Schulbuch spielen die Texte eine wichtige Rolle, auch bei der Arbeit mit dem Internet führt kein Weg an Texten vorbei. Diese Hausarbeit beschäftigt sich allerdings ausschließlich mit gedruckten Texten, da eine Ausweitung der Arbeitsgrundlage, beispielsweise auf Hypertexte, zu umfassend wäre. Da Texte ein wichtiges Medium im Rahmen des Lehrens und Lernens darstellen, ist es wichtig zu wissen, wie das kognitive System der Lernenden dabei vorgeht und welche Bedingungen geschaffen werden müssen, damit Lernende möglichst effizient anhand von Texten Wissensstrukturen aufbauen können. Deshalb soll mit dieser Arbeit im Wesentlichen versucht werden, einen Überblick über den Themenbereich Lernen mit Texten zu geben. Fokussiert werden zum einen Einflüsse, die auf das Lernen einwirken und zum anderen wird auf psychologische Voraussetzungen beim Lernenden eingegangen. Zu Beginn wird der Begriff der Medien allgemein geklärt, um auf dieser Grundlage aufbauend auf Merkmale pädagogischer Medien eingehen zu können. Zum Schluss dieses Abschnitts werden die Ausführungen auf das Medium Text bezogen. Im Hauptteil werden Fragen geklärt, die sich damit befassen, welchen Einfluss die psychologische Einstellung der Lernenden zum Medium auf die Arbeit mit Medien und die Verarbeitung von Informationen hat. Im Anschluss daran wird dargestellt, wie grundlegend es ist, dass die Lernenden Texte lesen können und welche Prozesse beim Lernen mit und Verstehen von Texten in Lernenden ablaufen. In diesem Zusammenhang soll auch die Frage beantwortet werden, ob es "Lerntypen" gibt, d.h., ob Lernende aufgrund des Favorisierens bestimmter Medien
