Doch nicht nur hier, sondern auch bei der Auswahl von Auszubildenden und normalen Angestellten kommt es heutzutage auf eine Vielzahl weiterer Kompetenzen an. Doch was sind "Kompetenzen" und in welchen Ausmaß sind sie für die Arbeitsplatzsuche im immer dynamischer werdenden Arbeitsmarkt bedeutsam? Wichtig ist, dass nicht nur fachliche Kompetenzen von Bedeutung sind, denn methodische, persönliche und soziale Kompetenzen sind für viele berufliche Tätigkeiten erforderlich und somit für die Bewerber unerlässlich, unabhängig davon, welche Stellung sie in welcher Branche anstreben. Wie aber stellt man fest, welcher Bewerber der geeignetste ist, bzw. wer die passendsten Kompetenzen für eine Stelle besitzt? Dies ist die Aufgabe der psychologischen Personalauswahl, die sich mit dem Zusammenpassen von Mensch und Arbeitsorganisation beschäftigt. Die Berufseignungsdiagnostik befasst sich mit den Zusammenhängen von menschlichen Merkmalen und beruflichem Erfolg und besteht aus Methoden, die beides messen und zueinander in Beziehung setzen (Schuler, 2000; Schuler, 2006). Auf diesem Gebiet treffen persönlichkeits-, sozial- und wirtschaftspsychologische Aspekte aufeinander.
