About the Book
A Hymnbook of Christians of the right faith.
The sequel of the Ausbund, the german Hymnbook of the Anabaptists.
The hymns are versified like the Psalms - without Rhyme or melody of speech, but mere sentences to a melody for the public worship service and privately in the houses. The content is also like the Psalms: One's own righteousness is stated in detail and the conduct of the wicked, the ungodly are cursed, as in the Psalms - thus the Anabaptists have always sung.
The Hymnbook was written by Markus Pilz, an Anabaptist Pastor. Anabaptists are those people who were killed in the Middle Ages by the Roman-Catholic Church and the Protestant Church - they are also called Waldensians, Albigensians, Cathars, Mennonites, etc. Those Christians disappeared about 200 years ago, but came now back again.All hymns can be sung with the same melody. All the Psalms have been versified almost word by word and many New Testament Hymns were added, together with the Song of Moses and the best portions of the Ausbund Hymns of the Anabaptist martyrs.
Extract of Hymn 155:
The Lord hath washed away ... the filth of the daughters of Zi-on, and hath purged the blood / of Jerusalem from the midst / thereof by the spirit ... of judgment, and by the spirit / of burning. And the LORD / created upon every dwel-ling place of mount Zion ... a cloud and smoke by day, and the / shining of a flaming / fire by night: for on all the / glory is a defence. ... And there is a tabernacle / for a shadow in the / daytime from the heat, and for a / place of refuge, and for ... a covert from storm and from rain.
Extract of Hymn 168:
The nations murder their ... babies in the womb, mothers mur-der their children before / they are born. The Evangeli-cals and Catholics bear ... still the blood upon them in all / the world until judgment-day. They marry man with man and / female with female in ... the church. All men go into the / private brothel on the / internet and it is not banned. / Women run on the streets ... exposed, the world is ripe for slaugh-ter. And they live in loose / relationships and beget il-legitimate children ... and many are divorced. They use / contraceptives and do / not keep their virginity, and / they explain away the ... Bible and adjust the doctrine / to the desires of / men. They do not preach clearly and / do not name the sins. Help, ... O LORD, and keep us pure!
Extract of Hymn 174:
If a man desire the of-fice of a bishop, he / desireth a good work. A bi-shop then must be blameless, ... the husband of one wife, he is / the steward of God; not / selfwilled, a pastor is not soon / angry, he is just and ... holy, temp'rate, a lover of / good men, vigilant, so-ber, of good behaviour, given / to hospitality, ... apt to teach; Not given to wine, / no striker, not greedy / of filthy lucre; but patient, / not a brawler, and not ... covetous;
