Sie stellt das Projekt (nach Karl Frey), den Projektgedanken (nach John Dewey und William Heard Kilpatrick) und Handlungsorientierten Unterricht (nach Herbert Gudjons) vor. Ebenso stellt sie die Entstehung und Entwicklung des Hip-Hop dar von den 1970er Jahren (Grandmaster Flash, Cool DJ Herc) bis heute dar. Der Autor bietet verschiedene Projektideen (nach der Produktionsdidaktik von Christopher Wallbaum) zum Thema Hip-Hop mit an. Die Jugendlichen von heute und damit die Schüler stehen einer immer größer werdenden Auswahl an Musik gegenüber. Populäre Musik ist allgegenwärtig und die dominierende Musikform unserer Zeit. Ständig werden neue Stile geprägt oder vorhandene weiterentwickelt. Ebenso schnell, wie sie entstanden, verschwinden viele davon wieder. Das gilt für Hip-Hop und Rap nicht. Seit Entstehen der Jugendkultur Hip-Hop Mitte der siebziger Jahre in New York und der Verbreitung in der Öffentlichkeit seit 1979 hat sich diese Kultur zu einer festen, sich ständig weiterentwickelnden Musikrichtung und Lebenseinstellung und somit zu einer der wichtigsten Jugendkulturen unserer Zeit etabliert. Diese Sparte stellt eines der meistumsetzenden Segmente der Tonträgerindustrie dar und wird vornehmlich von Jugendlichen, also insbesondere Schülern, gehört. Hip-Hop ist heute weltweit in allen Medien vom Film bis zur Werbung präsent und hat sich somit zu einem globalen Phänomen zwischen Mainstream und Untergrund entwickelt. Auch das Projekt hat als Unterrichtsform nach wie vor Konjunktur. Im Zeitalter der Informationen wird es zunehmend wichtiger, dass Schülern die Gelegenheit gegeben wird, authentische Erfahrungen mit der Wirklichkeit zu machen und sie nicht nur durch Betrachten, Hören oder Lesen
