About the Book

BACKGROUND: These Smarter Starter(R) books are based on years of academic research and present basic concepts in a simple framework that supports comprehension without distracting "fluff." The basic principle of these books is we present a primary fact in conjunction with appropriate secondary facts to help your baby to build their capacity to learn in a fun, engaging, and memorable way. Our goal is for the Baby Basics books to become treasured additions to your baby's book collection. Smarter Starter(R) products are available in both physical and digital forms including paperbacks, eBooks, workbooks, videos, and products.---GIVING BACK: We donate 10% of our annual net profits globally to women & children centers.---AUTHORS: William (Professor Bill) Szaroletta, PE has won may university teaching awards and is an innovation expert with multiple patents. He developed these books for his children not being satisfied with the baby books that were available. Now that Professor Bill has grandchildren, he was encouraged by his children to publish these books so children world-wide could benefit like they felt they did from their treasured baby books. Professor Bill is Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer.---Susanna (Anna) Szaroletta Kuuttila, MBA, RPA was the initial user of these books which helped develop her love of learning and laid a foundation for her academic success. Anna got her Dad (Professor Bill) to dust off his early Smarter Starter material and co-authored the updates. Anna has an engineering degree (awarded at age 19 while also playing college tennis), her MBA, and her Registered Patent Agent certification. Anna is Co-Founder, President, and CEO.---GUIDE: -Have a smile on your face and with your baby on your lap or sitting alongside you. -Flip through the Baby Basics books spending about three seconds per page. -While reading aloud in a pleasant voice, touch the pages as you read. -Repeat each book once a day or as many times per day as they are having fun. -Over time, have them to touch the pages to add a tactile component for memory.---OVERVIEW: Book 2 (Colors) of the Baby Basics Series 1 is designed to first present the basic colors without visual noise. When the book is open, the left page presents two pieces of information about the color: the word (e.g. "RED") above the word "Ball" and the right page presents the color very simply on a highlighted sphere or ball. This book starts with introducing Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet in the famous Roy G. Biv ordering. It goes on to introduce Brown, White, Light Gray, Dark Gray, and Black. The main focus of very young children should be on the right-hand page. Over time, the words will be important to building their reading and comprehension skills. Book 2 (Colors) presents the stated colors on a spherical object with a small light source. This method presents the many different variations (tints and shades) of the color which are very important concepts in color theory. Tint is a mixture of white with the color and shade is a mixture of black with the color.
