About the Author

Professor Woo Bang Lee

Dr  Lee is Chairman of the Korea Engineering Asset Management Association and is a Visiting Professor at Pukyong National University. He has served in distinguished positions in industry culminating in the position of Executive Vice President, Project Division for Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) Corporation where he spent three years. Prior to that appointment, Dr Lee was Vice President, Maintenance Planning and Engineering at KHNP. He has been honored with several special awards which included the Ministers Award, Ministry of Energy and Resources as well as the special Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit in recognition of outstanding service in the resolution of the radioactive waste disposal facility site. He is a lifetime member of the Korean Nuclear Society and the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineering as well as a Foundation Fellow of the International Society of Engineering Asset Management (ISEAM).

Professor Byeong-Kuen Choi

Byeong-Keun is a Professor at the Department of Energy and Mechanical Engineering at the Gyeongsang National University, Korea. He has held academic positions previously at Arizona State University, USA and at the Pukyong National University. His research interests lie in the research and application of signal processing techniques for diagnosing and prognosing machinery faults. He has published widely in the field. Byeongkuen served as Chair of the WCEAM 2012 Organising and Program Committees and currently serves on the Board of the Korea Engineering Asset Management Association.

Professor Lin Ma

Lin is an accomplished academic and researcher in integrated asset management platforms, optimal decision support and condition-based asset health prediction at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She led the Capability Optimisation research program in the CRC for Infrastructure and Engineering Asset Management (CIEAM) and worked closely with industry partners to address their critical needs. Together with her team, a number of advanced asset management systems, modules and industry utilisation cases have been successfully developed and utilised. Her achievements have received commendation. She is a recipient of the Queensland’s Smart State – Smart Woman Award as well as the QUT Vice Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Research. She is a Foundation Fellow of ISEAM.

Professor Joseph Mathew

Joe is a Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in academia, academic administration, research and research management, and consulting. He led the CIEAM since it was founded in 2003 and specialises in condition monitoring, diagnostics and prognostics of machine systems. He is one of the two founders of the International Standards Organisation’s Committee on Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics (ISO TC 108/SC5), which he has chaired since 1996. He also initiated the International Society of Engineering Asset Management (ISEAM) and the World Congress on Engineering Asset Management (WCEAM). He remains as Foundation Chair of ISEAM and General Chair of the WCEAM. Joe has recently been appointed as Interim CEO of the newly founded Asset Institute based at QUT and has been the key facilitator behind the Asset Institute®’s transition from a cooperative research centre.
