About the Book

Ingmar Lebosky, 29, is the creator of the B.O.C (Bureau of Coincidences) designed to track suspects on a wanted list worldwide. Ingmar (Ing for short) lives in Brooklyn, NY, with Lu, his pet chicken. He is haunted by the image of a young girl (Liz) whom he once saw on a slow-passing train in Bonaparte, Iowa, where he was born. He was then 12 years old and for years to come, he has remained obsessed with the image of that young girl. Feather-Me, an old Native American who was Ing's mentor, prophesied that the girl would reappear in Ing's life when the "Shepherd Chief" was ready to give it His blessings.

The prophecy comes true. Seventeen years later, having kept that image alive in his mind all these years, Ing recognizes the young girl (Liz) he saw on a train in Iowa, even though she is now 28. Only this time she is on the New York subway. Being introverted he shies away from approaching her even though she seems to recognize him as well. Ing confides in his old college professor and in Ava, his Croatian therapist, that he is mortified by his inadequacy. Professor Unteem urges Ingmar to find Liz again using the same scientific knowledge he used in order to create the Bureau of Coincidences.

With a burning desire to find Liz, Ing embarks on a series of picaresque adventures. The next time he catches a glimpse of her, he ends up in a coma. Ambroisie, his close friend from back home in Bonaparte, betrays him. He is also shocked to discover that his father is not his real father. He is then forced by Washington to become a part-time spy and is kidnapped and forced into a marriage against his will.

After searching for Liz relentlessly, Ing realizes that looking for a needle in such a vast universe is hopeless. Having exhausted all his resources, beaten and defeated, he gets ready to head back home to Iowa. Just as he is about to grab a cab to the airport, his doorbell rings. That ring will change Ing's life forever.

Written with a pinch of humor, a dash of originality, and a cast of memorable characters this quirky comedic love story asks us to evaluate the role that synchronicity and divine intervention play in our lives, and perhaps more importantly, how it challenges our beliefs.
