About the Book

Filled with Celtic legends, mystical visions and magical fairies, Priestess of An: The Sacred Isle is the 5th century story of a daughter of an exiled Irish royal clan. Fleeing threatening violence in the exile village, she travels to the Caves of the Goddess An where she receives her initiation as the druid priestess of An. She becomes a part of the vast, but waning, community of druids. Again fleeing violence, she stumbles upon an ancient secret refuge of followers of Brother Yesua and his companion Miriam of Magda. The Priestess of An weaves the mystical world of the Goddess An with their compassionate teachings creating a powerful faith. This faith gives her the courage to lead her family back to the sacred isle of Eire, and the throne of Shreedrum. Factions and violence threaten but her faith grows stronger as she partners with the unseen realms of the sacred and her beloved Papallas. Then tragedy strikes.
About the Author: I've had a lifelong interest in storytelling as well as the study of history and the discovery of actual people and their adventures. As a child I was steeped in the wonder of the natural world as I hiked through the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California with my naturalist father. Add to that my curiosity about the spirit connections on this planet and my love of exploring and you've got a recipe for several novels. I actually have several manuscripts piled up in the study ready to be worked and reworked. The manuscripts span a wide historical range from the 5th century to the 16th to the 1940's. But for now I want to share the story of Anaias in the 5th century. The Trilogy will follow her from Western Wales to Ireland and then into Gaul. I've always loved playing with history. In 1972 I received a B.A. in history from the University of California, Los Angeles. Later I added a love of the study of faith formation. In 1982 I received a Master of Divinity degree from the Iliff School of Theology in Denver. I was Ordained as a Minister of the United Methodist Church and have served as pastor for over 30 years in churches in Northern California. In 2006 the first version of this story, Greenfire, a deep sacred mystery, was a dissertation from my Doctor of Ministry degree at the University of Creation Spirituality, later known as Wisdom University, in Oakland, California. That book is still available and includes an account of my travels and thoughts as I wrote the story. I've traveled to the regions mentioned in the stories and walked the lands I write about. I've listened and researched and pondered. There are more stories to come. There are also stories that had to be cut from the final draft. I didn't want to exhaust the reader! Thank you for being a reader!!
