About the Book

For 12-year-old Janice Wilson, fame is about to be thrust upon her. The question is, can she handle the price....
Janice Wilson came from a dying boom town in East Texas. Her family life was not a healthy environment. Her father Hal, an unemployed oil field worker, would come home drunk every night. He would terrorize Janice and her mother Wendy. On Janice's 12th birthday, Hal finally went too far; Hal destroyed the birthday party Wendy had thrown for her daughter.
The next day Wendy devised a plan to leave her husband behind, taking Janice with her. She packed the car and headed out of town on the only highway leading out. On the road, Wendy tells Janice about her dream, to live in Hollywood and be a movie star. Janice becomes excited for the first time in her life. Wendy looks over at her daughter, "it's too late for me, you are going to be the star." Janice is perplexed by this, she doesn't know how to be a star. Wendy assures her she will learn. Janice lands her first role, on the very first audition. The movie becomes a breakout hit, transforming Janice into a big star. Janice and her mother are living the dream. After several roles, Janice finds herself winning every type of award there is, from the teen choice award to the prestigious Oscar. Janice now a big star, along with being a teenager in Hollywood, it doesn't take long for people to start using her, for her fame. After a fight with her mother over Janice's latest role, in a film about a young teen pop star who died from a drug overdose, their relationship becomes strained. Janice falls in with a bad crowd of young want-to-be starlets, soon they have Janice defying her mother, drinking and taking drugs. Theprice of fame has caught up to Janice...
The first installment from the Price of Fame series.
