About the Book

Who is God? Who am I to God? What is His character, His power, His nature? What is His purpose? What is His purpose for me? How does He relate to me? This is my personal spiritual journey. God's Natural and Moral Attributes are in everything that He does. I want to try to relate His actions with who my Creator is and why He does what He does. I am called to let you hear our conversations and make you a part of it. As I look back now, the same today as then: what is in my heart is much bigger and much clearer than the small paragraphs presented. The sentences do not seem coherent but if you read the chapter and the verse of the Scripture, each sentence is a summary of what is in my heart. My mind cannot put into words what it is I am actually saying. I am unable to convey what the Holy Spirit inside of me is crying out - too deep for human words. May these words be interpreted into your heart and may you understand what it is I am trying to say.His Natural Attributes of How He is in Himself are Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Eternal, Immutable, Self-Existent, Self-Sufficient, Infinite, Incomprehensible, Transcendent, and Sovereign. His Moral Attributes of How He relates to His Creation are Holy, Gracious, Merciful, Longsuffering, Righteous, Just, Loving, Good, Wise, Truthful, Faithful, Wrathful, and Jealous. This is my own personal Spiritual Autobiography. What is important about Joshua for me is that the Pentateuch is concrete to me. It is real world, real life applications to things today. It is things I can make, and see in mind's eye. All children learn this way. I truly believe in first concrete to visual to abstract in order to understand something. Then it seems that in Joshua He moves from the concrete to the visual. The maps, the timelines, the movement from wandering in the desert wilderness to invasion of people are all visual representations. He physically divided the land by lots - all by chance. Joshua through 2 Kings is very visual.God is Transcendent. He is apart from His creation. He teaches me about Himself. He teaches me what Joshua did after the death of Moses. Joshua is now serving Him - His servant? Is Joshua a holy man? Joshua - Deut. 31:23; Num 11:28; 27:18; Deut 31:7God commissioned Joshua before Moses died.So a young man ran and told Moses and said, "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp. Then Joshua the son of Nun, the attendant of Moses from you, answered and said, "Moses, my lord, restrain them." But Moses said to him, "Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all the LORD's people were prophets, that the LORD would put His spirit upon them!"Ex 33:11; Ex 24:13 - Moses arose with Joshua his servant, and Moses went up to the mountain of GodEx 17:19-14 - Joshua did as Moses told himNum 14:6 - Joshua was the head of the tribe of Ephraim. His name was Hoshea the son of Nun.God teaches me Joshua commanded the officers of the people to have the sons of Israel prepare provisions and in three days be prepared to cross the Jordan.God teaches me the Reubenites and Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh will obey Joshua as they obeyed Moses. Why does God put Joshua in Moses' place rather than taking command Himself? Wouldn't He be the best leader? Why does He use Joshua? Why does He use his leadership? These are the questions I ask my God as I read His Word. Thank you for listening.
