About the Book
Power confers authority and vice versa. People in authority whether as Local Council Administrator, the Head of State, and President, or Prime Minister (PM) exercise power on behalf of their peoples in a democracy. Democrats claim the power they exercise is freely given to them by their people, the electorate at the polls, in an un-coerced, free, fair, and credible election. Tyrants and war-lords, on the other hand, acquire power forcefully through coercion or military conquest, such as in toppling legitimate governments of countries in what is known as military coup d'etat. Aside from political governing or administrative, power, man often talks of power as in electricity. Such electric power is used to power your electronic devices, e.g. your mobile phone, computers; your generators, elevators or stored in batteries to power motor-cars and pacemakers (these are electrical devices for stimulating or steadying the heartbeat or reestablishing the rhythm of an arrested heart) in peoples' hearts), and other wireless gadgets. The simple truth is all power comes from God, who alone is the owner and its source. Does it matter if the source of the power is the sun, harnessed and put into use from hydrocarbon materials where it is stored or generated from wind, hydro-turbine, etc? Psalm 62: 11 is one of many Bible passages that confirm that power belongs to God. Pontus Pilate, in an attempt to dissuade Jesus Christ to take him seriously and respond to his questioning of Him, thought he could harass Jesus by flaunting his power to crucify or release Him. Jesus. In measured tone replied that he could never have power except that power was given to him from above, John 19: 9 - 11. Observable is that power, whether physical, spiritual, or administrative, is crucial to get things done. What gets done will either be helpful, edifying the people, or evil causing offense to them. Both ends to which power is put have reward or penalty. These accounts for Jesus' warning on offending Luke 17: 1. What will you do with power, or how will you handle power? That is the two-in-one question this book focuses on intending to help you avert 'woe'.
