Dennoch gibt es Unternehmen, welche noch nicht dem Social-Media Trend folgen. Sei es, weil die jeweiligen Unternehmen keinen Vorteil in der Nutzung sehen, weil das Potenzial und die Möglichkeiten, welche die Social-Media Netzwerke einem Unternehmen bieten, noch teilweise unbekannt sind, weil keine entsprechenden Ressourcen vorhanden sind oder weil die verantwortlichen Personen sich nicht an das Thema herantrauen. Das Aussitzen dieses Trends erinnert an die Reaktion von Unternehmen auf Webseiten. Heute ist die Online-Präsenz der Unternehmen, zumindest mit einer informativen Website, ein fest verankerter Bestandteil und ist nicht mehr wegzudenken. Zu den Unternehmen, welche eine Präsenz im Social-Web überaus zurückhaltend betreiben, gehören die Hersteller der deutschen Küchenmöbelbranche. In der Bachelorarbeit soll der Frage nachgegangen werden, ob die Nutzung von sozialen Medien für die Hersteller in Deutschland Sales-Potenzial bietet, indem die Zielgruppen bereits vom Hersteller über die sozialen Medien anzusprechen sind, anstatt diesen Bereich den Handelspartnern zu überlassen. Dazu werden in der Arbeit der Begriff Social-Media und einzelne, für Unternehmen wichtige, Social-Media Netzwerke definiert.
