About the Book

A national security emergency is not the time for the media to hold onto their bias narratives and agenda driven opinion commentary, but that is just what happened to us. The armed invasion of the West Coast of the United States is not the time for the media to fail the people of the country. What we needed were the facts as they unfolded and not conjecture and kneejerk reporting, however, that is what we got from the fourth estate. If journalism wasn't dead already todays' events most assuredly were some of the final nails in its coffin. It didn't matter which side of the spectrum they were on, they all failed... except for one. The fringe right talk show conspiracy theorists went off the rails with their standard go to talking points that lead a lot of people to make bad decisions. Over on the far left liberal socialist propaganda machines they just couldn't help but interject massive amounts of bias narratives and opportunistic conjecture completely embarrassing themselves and, frankly, made themselves look like complete fools. The moderate left and moderate right media types just flat out got it the reporting wrong and, what is worse, they stuck with their original line of bull right up until the truth was so blaring that they could no longer continue. Now imagine being out in the middle of nowhere on a stretch of interstate listening to five different versions of the same story. All of them lead you, the consumer of the media, to make a different decision based on what you are being told. Only one source of news was neutral, unbiased, and gave the people the facts as they unfolded. I dare say that is was actual journalism! That was the Pendleton Diversion! How a group of average travelers consumed the media narratives as the armed invasion of the United States raged on. I was there, with them... among them as this all unfolded on Interstate 25 North through flyover country in Wyoming. The only unbiased factual journalism came to us via a small classic rock station reading off the live reporting from the battle as they spun double shots and we drove the miles away.
