About the Book

The Play on Words is a collection of poems and epiphanies written over a period of four decades by the poet's Picasso; Reverend Don W. Moses. These are literary exposes that are God inspired but written in the vernacular of ordinary laypersons. The themes are common daily and life experience and challenges. This collection of writings convey messages through imagery and symbolism supported by selected biblical references. This is the first in a series of literary works that will share the messages of Faith, Hope, and Love that God intended for mankind.
About the Author: Don W. Moses is the sixth of nine children born to Bishop and Tracie V. Moses of North Little Rock, Arkansas. He grew up during the segregation, civil rights and Viet Nam eras and attended public school in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He graduated from S.A. Jones High School in North Little Rock, Arkansas in 1968. While in High School, Don lettered in Basketball and Track High Jump Competitions. Upon graduation, Don received a 4 year full Music Scholarship to Langston University in Langston, OK, He chose a military career instead and served in the U.S. Navy until 1970. Upon his return fro the Navy, Don worked for Kroger Co. and sang with a local band called the Lyrics and the Playboys. In 1971, Don was called to the Ministry at 8th Street Baptist Church at the age of 22 and currently serves as its' Associate Minister. He is an active Choir member, serves as a teacher in Union District of Christian Education wherein he also serves as Co-Youth Director with his wife Linda(Evans) Moses. His mission is to serve in community outreach ministry which assists with the sick and shut-in and the hospital ministry. Don is also a devoted participant in the National Baptist Convention Don recently retired after serving 39 years as a Locomotive Engineer with Union Pacific Railroad. During a 40 year period following his entry into the ministry, Don developed several hobbies which includes, sports, fishing, singing and writing poems and short stories. As he explored his hobby of writing, he realized that God has transferred spiritual life messages and lessons to be shared. It was this revelation, that led him to write for several decades a series of Poems and Epiphanies that reveal understandings to the ordinary lay persons about the power and presence of God in the most "ordinary" experiences.
