She makes the community stronger through volunteerism: tutoring teens and adults, managing religious organizations, working suicide prevention hot lines, running adoption support groups, leading Girl Scout troops, and teaching Mah Jongg. She is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island majoring in biology and education.
