About the Book

Pink Mortuary on Pleasant Street is a small collection of short stories in the narrative nonfiction genre. Marcia Harriman wrote this book with memories and perceptions about life and death and falling in love and living and learning. As a very young little girl, Marcia lived in the Pink Mortuary on Pleasant Street, where she grew up with death all around her.
About the Author: About the Author Many years ago, Marcia Harriman was a student at the University of Arizona in Tucson, and she had an advisor who, after listening to her educational goals and aspirations, advised her to become a writer. She said he was a very kind and sincere man who was blind and had a large, beautiful, light-colored dog beside him at the desk in his office. Though her advisor could not see her, he seemed to be able to read her very well. While Marcia holds a Bachelors degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado in Boulder, she also studied Case Law and Business Law in preparation for earning a Juris Doctorate. To date, Mrs. Harriman still considers returning to school to complete her studies in Law and earn her Juris Doctorate, but she has said that over the years, some of her college professors and instructors have shared with her that they actually enjoyed reading her writing in her homework, and she admits that this made her wonder if she should have long ago taken the advice of her college advisor in the deserts of Arizona and become a full-time writer much sooner. Marcia has now begun to publish her writings, and she is finding real joy in doing so. She has worked for multiple Police Agencies and Court systems in the United States, and she has worked as an educational assistant in the classroom of a public school district, where she requested and received permission to teach Science to middle school students. Marcia planned and taught lessons in accordance with the Colorado Department of Education's requirements and found working with these students to be some of the most rewarding work she ever did. As a Science teacher, Marcia bought each of her students journals to write in every day, and the Mother of one of her students wrote a letter of thanks and appreciation for the progress her son was making after writing in his journal daily.
