About the Book

The Pilgrim Bride, is an authobiografic novel written by Pilar Cerón Durán, the Muse of the Atacama Desert. It's a story about love and adventures filled with unusual and tragicomedy events, like not being able to get a hotel room on her wedding night, being deported from the Heathrow airport in London just a few days after celebrating her dazzling wedding in the city of Copiapó, Chile; and the fascinating trips she will take around the world thanks to a pair of marvelous and magical little red shoes.
The main character of the story, "The Pilgrim Bride in search of happiness", is a fifty-something-year-old divorcee, beautiful like the sunrise, with a defiant, energetic, radiant, passionate and voracious personality. A cyclone, an enemy of routines, a lover of freedom, of love itself and of her family, who despite of her successful professional career, makes a drastic change in her personal life when she decides to move to London to study English. Leaving everything behind, from her memories of the unfortunate marriage until her blessed divorce, she begins her quest in search of happiness.
The chapter "Six months in London, a once in a lifetime experience" will captivate and astonish you with her transformation from an executive professional woman to a young, fearless and fun girl. Along with the rest of the young English students from different countries, she will travel the Old World to venture and enjoy spellbinding experiences in the Anglo-Saxon lands, re-enchanting her life with thousands of adventures. Passionate about Britain's history, she will visit its palaces and castles, being the Tower of London her greatest fascination, ending every afternoon at a typical London bar and dancing at night at a Soho nightclub. The discovery of rock music in her fifties will make her shine and vibrate till she can't stop while enjoying concerts by the best rock and heavy metal bands; especially by Rammstein, something incredible and unbelievable just like all her experiences and adventures.
In the chapter "A trip to London in search of a second chance" she will fall in love again with a 21st century prince, rediscover love which wasn't in her plans and, even less, become a bride once again, get married and wear white like a virgin, an unusual event if you take into account that at her first wedding she wore strictly black. There's a before and after in the life of Esmeralda, "The Pilgrim Bride", protagonist, the 180 degree turn in her life will shock you and bring you to tears as she begins her journey in search of happiness towards "The re-encounter with her 21st century prince". With hilarious occurrences during the preparations for her wedding, like the night before the wedding. Just after having enjoyed an exquisite welcome dinner with a few friends and family who were attending the wedding, as she was getting ready for bed, still panting and sweaty after the romantic, passionate and hot evening, the bride suddenly remembers that they hadn't rehearsed the "Cueca", the Chilean national dance. While both naked, improvising a pair of handkerchiefs with paper napkin and a red rose, the bride teaches her 21st century prince how to dance the cueca, who turns out to be a pretty decent student, giving their guests an excellent show the very next day. Another significant event that tarnishes the brides' happiness is not being able to have her son Apollo at her wedding, who was hospitalized, and her daughter Renata whom was unable to travel.
The experiences of The Pilgrim Bride. Is a second marriage better than the first? are based on Esmeralda's real life, recreated in this novel, and dedicated to all, men and women, who find themselves trapped in a suffocating relationship, trusting that the experiences of the main character will light their way in search of a longing desire and well deserved freedom, providing a new beginning for love and happiness. Smart book. WHITE AND BLACK VERSION.
