Cuando a mediados de los años 90 aparece acuchillado el cadáver del catedrático Ezequiel Izaguirre, en Puerto Ordaz, ciudad cercana a la reserva Tunnarú, una de las últimas fronteras forestales del planeta, serán el comisario Elías Bravo y la detective Helena Montero quienes deberán llevar adelante la investigación para resolver el caso.

Geógrafa graduada en la Universidad Central de Venezuela y con más de veinticinco años de experiencia, Enriqueta González (Coro, Falcón, 1953) se ha desempeñado como consultora ambiental en numerosos proyectos relacionados con la evaluación de impactos socioambientales, el tratamiento del medio físico natural en la planificación urbana y los riesgos en áreas urbanas por la presencia de amenazas naturales.

Realizó una maestría de Desarrollo y Ambiente en la Universidad Simón Bolívar (USB), donde además se desempeñó como docente por varios años, dirigiendo la cátedra de Análisis del Medio Físico Natural en la carrera de Urbanismo, en la que trató, en todo momento, de infundir en los estudiantes el amor y respeto por la naturaleza.

Ha trabajado en diversos organismos públicos como el Ministerio de Energía y Minas, la Fundación Venezolana de Investigaciones Sismológicas o el Instituto de Estudios Regionales y Urbanos de la USB, así como en diversas consultoras ambientales, enfocada siempre en promover la necesidad de restablecer el diálogo del ser humano con la naturaleza de la cual forma parte, en cuyo divorcio considera que se encuentran las causas de todos los problemas ambientales.

Testigo de primera mano de la manera como la acción humana afecta el ambiente, y autora asimismo de múltiples ensayos sobre el tema, González decidió cambiar el lenguaje técnico por el narrativo y, después de formarse en el oficio con los cursos del Instituto de Creatividad (Icrea) y talleres de novela negra dictados por diversos escritores, presenta esta obra que refleja desde su certera perspectiva el problema de la deforestación en áreas protegidas, debido a la codicia del oro.
