Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Philosophie - Theoretische (Erkenntnis, Wissenschaft, Logik, Sprache), Note: 1, Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz (Philosophie), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Was ist die Leib-Seele-Problematik und wie kommt es durch sie zu Begriffen wie "Qualia" und "Epiphänomenalismus"? Ausgangspunkt des Problems ist die Feststellung, dass es neben unserer physischen Welt auch noch eine mentale Welt gibt. Nun stellten sich PhilosophInnen schon vor langer Zeit die Frage, was das Mentale in uns ist und vor allem, wie der Geist in Beziehung zu unserem Körper steht. Das Hauptproblem, welches sich bald herauskristallisierte, ist die Frage, ob das Mentale zurückführbar ist auf physische Elemente, oder ob es nicht vielmehr so ist, dass das Mentale ontologisch gesehen eigenständig ist. Es bildeten sich die Positionen, die man als (Substanz-)Dualismus und Physikalismus bezeichnet. Dualisten, wie beispielsweise René Descartes, glauben, dass Mentales nicht auf physische Elemente reduziert werden kann.Physikalisten hingegen nehmen an, dass eine Elimination oder Reduktion des Mentalen auf das Physische möglich ist. Was aber ist mit Qualia gemeint? Qualia bedeutet einfach gesagt, dass unsere Erlebnisse, Empfindungen und Wahrnehmungen eine gewisse Erlebnisqualität aufweisen. Es fühlt sich irgendwie an, Wein zu trinken, Schokolade zu essen, die Farben des Regenbogens zu sehen, oder den Duft einer Blume zu riechen. Mit der Bezeichnung "es fühlt sich irgendwie an" meint man ein Charakteristikum für Mentales gefunden zu haben, welches nur auf mentale Eigenschaften, nicht aber auf physische Eigenschaften zutrifft, denn es fühlt sich beispielsweise nicht irgendwie an, ein Muttermal zu haben. Ein weiterer wichtiger Begriff ist der Begriff des Epiphänomenalismus. Vertreter des Epiphänomenalismus glauben, dass geistige Zustände existieren, aber keine kausale Wirkung auf den Körper von Personen haben können, da sie das Prinzip der kausalen Geschlossenheit der Phy
