Peter Scolari, a veteran actor who rose to popularity alongside Tom Hanks in the film Bosom Buddies, died early Friday, 22nd October 2021.
Scolari, according to his manager Ellen Lubin Sanitsky, had cancer and had been sick for two years. He had died at the age of 66 years.
Scolari has appeared in a number of films and television shows, including Newhart, Murphy Brown, and The Good Fight. In 2016, he was nominated for an Emmy for his role as Hannah's father, Tad Horvath, on the show Girls.
Two seasons of ABC's Bosom Buddies were broadcast. Scolari and Hanks pretended to be women in order to get into a low-cost women-only apartment on the show. In real life, the two stars stayed close, with Scolari revealing that Hanks toast him at his wedding in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Scolari stated of his toast, I can't wrap my head around what I've done in my life to earn this type of devotion.
He also played Peter Madoff in HBO's Madoff and appeared in a TV remake of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Gotham.
Scolari appeared alongside Tom Hanks in Broadway productions of Hairspray, Sly Fox, Wicked, Magic/Bird, and Lucky Guy.
His children Nicholas, Joseph, Keaton, and Cali, as well as his wife Tracy Shayne, survive him.
On Friday 22nd October 2021, Scolari's colleagues and friends paid tribute to him.
