Vergleicht man so einen Literaturunterricht, mit dem ausgeführten Zitat von Kaspar H. Spinner, kommt man zum Entschluss, dass Theorie und Praxis wieder ihre Schwierigkeiten in der Übereinstimmung aufweisen. Wenn der Literaturunterricht zur Identitätsentwicklung, zur Perspektivübernahme, Empathie, zur Kreativität und kritischen Hinterfragung führen soll, darf dieser nicht erst mit dem Beginn der Sekundarstufe einsetzen. Bereits durch die vorschulische Lesesozialisation ist literarisches Lernen als ein wichtiger Bestandteil auch für die Grundschule - nämlich von Anfang an vorgesehen. Für den Literaturunterricht der Unterstufe gibt es aus Seiten der Deutsch- bzw. Literaturdidaktik bereits verschiedenste Ansätze und Methoden. Unteranderem auch von Kathrin Waldt, welche die Ansicht vertritt, dass Kinder gerade mit anspruchsvoller Literatur auf diesem Wege gefördert werden können. Im Bezug dazu tauchte nicht zuletzt mit Kaspar H. Spinner der Begriff des literarischen Lernens in den Vordergrund, der damit "Lernprozesse [verbindet], die zur Erschließung und zum Verstehen ästhetisch- fiktionaler Texte beitragen". Zu denen gehören auch klassische Sagen bzw. Mythen, welche die Kinder oft durch amerikanische Verfilmungen kennen und diese aus diesem Grund Zugang in die Klassenräume finden sollten.
